Compact house designs have come a long way. No longer are they cramped spaces that leaves a lot to be desired. Modern compact house designs creates spaces seemingly out of thin air. Most of them also have an eco friendly design that is more energy efficient.

In this collection, we are looking at some of the best small house design innovation in terms structure design and the clever use of space. Most of the showcased design make good use of natural lighting and the use of space saving furniture to make living in a compact space a very comfortable experience.

The first thing that grabs you about this compact house (635 sq ft) is the odd shape and the use of a rather sweet color as its exterior painting. It also feels like an art piece and I must say the interior is truly the work of an interior artist. To appreciate what the interior designer has done, the house plan below will show you how it looks like in computer graphics.

Looking at the above, you can see what the designer has brillantly achieved in terms of the structure design. He used 2 slanting ramps to create additional living space that would otherwise be not available. Using non skid material, the ramps act as both a divider of spaces as well as transportation mechanism to move between the floors.

The master bedroom was situated at the top of the ramp. This allow the owners to maintain some private space. The frames has also been cleverly used as bookshelves to make full use of the available space.

Coming down from the master bedroom is the kitchen which has been sensibly been situation on a flat pane. The dining table is also situated here to minimize any inconvenience in terms of having meals.

After the kitchen is the living room that has been placed on the second ramp. Being a huge movie fan, the owners requested for a projector setting which the design has managed to cleverly incorporated. The projector is hidden as part of the sloping ramp to avoid obstructing the view. Chairs are suspended from the ceiling to reduce cluttering of the walkway.

Finally, on the ground floor, we have the kids room that comes with a study area. The placement of the room on the ground floor again shows the thoughtfulness of the designer in terms of living space design.
